i'm not asking obama whether he loves israel. does he believe it's within the interests of the united states to have a close relationship and sport that relationship which every -- and support that relationship which every president before him said is a special relationship, or does he believe that in order to satisfy the muslim world that somehow, rather, he has to separate us from israel? and what bob said is absolutely true. when the president -- by the way, the president's people, i've spoken to some of his people, say there was never a formal request for a meeting. i believe them. i believe they're honorable people. so it may very well be to attack the president for not having the meeting is unfair. and he says that, my contact, said that the israeli who first said there was such a request had to walk that statement back. i don't know that if that's true or not, but i accept it as true because the people who told me this are honorable people. i agree with bob that the most important thing is not to give the muslim world the

if you asked obama what he plans to do for the next 50 years for his country, that would hardly be a serious question. i mean, no american leader, nina, four years is long term. and think to the end of their term to the next election. so i think he did have a long-term perspective. at the same time he was experimental. and he didn't have fixed notion. and he was across the river for groping first dose. again, that term was somehow attributed but it was a unique and. he didn't invent the term. he used the term, use the ideas that he was a manager who put it all together and provide the direction, firm and that made it all happen. >> watch the entire interview with ezra vogel and his biography, "deng xiaoping and the transformation of china," tonight at 8 p.m. eastern here on c-span2. .. there is one line i have right here. apparently in a meeting at the conference boehner told people, get your ads in line and i think that is how congress has been so polarizing and so effective that a book like this would be great for summer reading just to kick back and figure out some of the dramas t

but it turned out in retrospect that there two obamas, not two americas. and that after he became president, he was very difficult from candidate obama. everybody who is elected is going to be different from how they are when they run for office, and you can't keep all of your promises. in his case, it seemed like he was even more different than it, especially when it cames to issues about negotiations, issues ability appointments, backing down on guantanamo closes, and also on the people he hired to work for him in the beginning beginning with which were a lot of wall street experts who had worked in the clinton administration, who were really part of the economic disaster that had been happening. i decided i would try to figure out what that's about and where it came from. and so i started reading, and one of the things that happened, actually during a primary when i was not thinking about a book at all, a colleague of mine suggested read "king for my father" i have to say it's one of the great books. i just adored it. and it was as good book as the come

what happens tomorrow is president obama has said that he will sign the jobs act. that name for the act was a little bit misleading, maybe for some political reasons. it's not about jobs. it's called jumpstart our business startups, that spells jobs. and what it is, it's controversial. i like it though. notably, as an experiment it may or may not work well, but let me tell you what's the most interesting part of the jobs act. the jobs act was created in response to requests from internet website providers who wanted to create a crowd funding website for entrepreneurs. so if you're trying to start a business, you can put it up on their website and say, i'm looking for money, and then thousands of investors, or millions, all over the world and send money and you can start a business. .. >> so i think this is a good experiment. now, what congress has done is they're worried that it's going to be, there's a lot of cheats out there, unfortunately, and someone is going to steal money from someone else this way. so one thing they've done in the legislation is that for peo
